After graduating I began teaching lessons. Over the past 7 years I have taught students of all ages and ability levels. I customize all of my lessons to the needs of my students. If students have a particular interest I do my utmost to incorporate it into their lessons. As an adult, I have taken pedagogy with the head of the pedagogy department at Olivet Nazarene University, Piano from Dr. Karen Ball, flute from Gary Schocker, and voice lessons from members of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Always looking to improve myself through individual study, I also get excited when I learn things from my students. Since these students moved a lot, I would continue teaching out of the books they were currently using to keep they're progress consistent. I individualize my teaching methods for each student based on their ability level. After I assess the ability level, I find level-appropriate method books, scale studies, etudes, tone exercises, sight reading, and solo repertoire. I use method books that I am personally familiar with and like, but am open to looking for new, exciting options. I have a positive and encouraging music studio! I like to see students progress at all levels beginners through advanced. I love to get to know my students and use different books, songs, techniques, to really reach their level and motivation.
