My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons and running sectionals at the conservatory in my hometown. I have been consistently teaching students since either in my home studio, or at different private and public institutions. I have held different faculty positions in colleges in the past 6 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. More than anything else, teaching music is what I love to do! It is a blessing to be apart of someone's musical development. In 1992, I graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Performance (Flute/Piano). Then in 1996, I graduated with a Master of Music degree from University of Massachusetts-Lowell with also in Instrumental Performance. Teaching is something that I have always done, in addition to performing. I incorporate fundamentals and musicality with every student, but each student learns differently and has different goals. I do not have a set curriculum, I gear the study to the student, what the student needs and wants to accomplish. I encourage students to perform in some way, either on a solo recital of in a chamber ensemble. I hold annual recitals and online students also participate in recitals, if they choose. Read More
