I am a professional saxophonist/flutist in central Florida who gigs over 200+ dates a year. I freelance with original bands, wedding and corporate groups. I play in jazz, funk, RB, reggae, soul, rock, songwriter, classical and world music styles. I received my A.A. in Music Performance at Valencia College in Orlando (2012) before becoming the music tutor there for one school year from 2012-2013. I then studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and moved back to Florida. Read More

Putting a label on any student, and/or compartmentalizing students is the last thing I would ever do. There are a couple of good method books, but introducing appropriate solo repertoire as early as possible creates a sense of self accomplishment, and so I normally follow my teaching instincts to know exactly the best time to bring this into the picture. Then I worked as a substitute teacher and elementary art teacher for the School Board of Broward County from 1999-2007. Read More

I recently relocated to South Tampa after being a full time 4th-8th band director for 10 years in Chicago. I also taught kindergarten music and K-3rd group piano. I have been teaching private lessons on all instruments for 13 years, with an average of 10 students per week in my studio. Read More

It has a CD, with the band in the background , so it makes it fun for a practice session at home. I also learned "Brain Gym" from one of my flute teachers. I always like to incorporate that especially if the student has some confusion or is stuck on an area like a certain rhythmic phrase, or anything hard to unravel, as well as reading music. In addition, I like to use yellow clear gels over the music should the student have a little trouble with eye tracking or staying focused. Read More
