My method are getting with the student for a first lesson to see what they have done and what they are able to do. Then get them to play for me whatever they wish to play for me at the moment and then we will go from there. For beginners I enjoy using Standards of Excellence from Kjos publishing or Sound Innovations from Alfred publishing and custom tailor exercises to fit the strengths and challenges of every student I teach.
