Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I started teaching back in 1995 due to repeated requests from customers at the music store where I was working retail at the time. Turned out to be the best decision I ever made as I left the retail world within 1 more year and never went back. When I was growing up I did not have a teacher which is why I love being able to do this so much. I'm a passionate and motivated guitar teacher who loves sharing my knowledge of music. I graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a B.A. and Psychology and went in to the education field 7 years ago. I studied Jazz Ensemble with one of the top jazz musicians in Houston and have been playing guitar since I was 11. My curriculum is incremental, and well planned that can take a beginner play through the proper foundational knowledge to help them reach advanced levels and become skilled in improvisation, song writing and performing. I have several methods, but mostly I teach to sing based on solfeage and songs, either italian, german, latin, spanish, and french. Solfeage helps the student to understand better sheet music and also helps understand the real emotion of the piece, among other things involved in a piece. For guitar I use Hal Leonard guitar method. I think that it is important to learn music and how to read it with your instrument. Read More

My teaching style is to observe each students background. I tend to try approach each student with their own "Language" to make them more easily to understand music theory concepts. Just like what I mentioned before, pure music theory is vague to most people; so I do make examples of implied meaning from other field to make the student catch the logic in their own field knowledge. I do supervise my students' physical playing gestures because some physical gestures does effect on playing efficiency. Read More

I come in to each new lesson trying to learn what works best for each student, as well as what each student is trying to gain from the lessons.
