My teaching style is most likely comparatively relaxed. I feel this is necessary because having fun and finding joy are the most important aspects of music. I have a deep appreciation for the stories behind music. I enjoy sprinkling in history and culture studies in music lessons. It adds to the story of music. Music is all about expression, and it helps to have a deep understanding of why that expression took place. Read More

I live for the "AHA!" moments from my students. There comes a point in every students musical journey where it all snaps together like a puzzle and a new piece of the picture can be seen. "AHA" moments are big deals, and we celebrate them together. Once a student has completed one skill, technique, scale, etc... we move ahead at his or her own pace. Once my student has progressed we begin a steady diet of repetition and exercises designed to help them maintain the knowledge acquired as well as new skills to take them to the next level. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to high school, when I was a surfing instructor in Huntington Beach, California. I love helping people achieve their goals. I fell in love with teaching vocal technique, performance skills, and songwriting to a wide age range of students--as young as 6 and as old at 75! Read More
