For beginners, I start off with the basics. For example, naming each string on the guitar, curvature of the fingers, embouchure on the headjoint of a flute, and achieving a crow on an oboe reed. For school age children, I use books or sheet music used in their own practice at school or Youth Orchestras during lessons. I have spent the majority of my life as learning the guitar and studying music, and I am dedicated and passionate about sharing my knowledge and love of the instrument with the students I teach. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors Degree in Guitar Performance and recently just moved to Nashville where I am currently playing professionally and teaching students. Whether it's drums, piano, guitar, or any orchestral instrument, they all share a common thread in melody and rhythm. Once the student has a firm grasp on note value and melody, they will begin to learn simple songs that gradually increase in difficulty.
