Having the opportunity to play with someone without judgement is something every beginning student needs. When a child is learning to speak, we don't chastise them for poor sentence formation. I have been a self-taught, hobby guitar player for over 20 years. I am heavily influenced by Rock, and Blues guitarists, but I am also a fan of Classical Flamenco guitar. I am 23 and have been working in music since I was 11 when I started to learn mixing and DJ techniques through the internet. I did this until I was 13 and picked up guitar through my middle school's Mariachi program.
