Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I started teaching 5 years ago, helping a college student expand his skills in music. Since then I've taught a number of others in all age groups. I've found that the best way to teach is to not teach; I feel that the experience is more fun and beneficial for the student if I help guide them through their own journey in music. Rather than set a strict curriculum that I the student must rigidly follow I have a number of resources that I draw from to make a flexible program to keep it interesting and enjoyable, as well as sharpening important concepts. I have taught guitar and voice lessons periodically for the past 15 years. I've never had more than 3 students at a time and it was more of a side gig for friends, family, and attenders of the churches I worked at. Many of my students learn how to play quickly and proficiently. I have even had a few students go on to play music professionally. I am a musician who is passionate about sharing my love of music with my students. Throughout my six years of teaching, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I attended Western Michigan University for Music Therapy with piano as my primary instrument. Through applied lessons with distinguished faculty, I further developed my musicianship and teaching skills through performance and application. I completed my courwork and graduated Magna cum laude this past May and will start a music therapy internship this coming fall as my final degree requirement. Read More

If you are a beginner, we have to start with ergonomics, playing positions, small details that are crucial to beginning. Pick holding, finger pressure, hand strength building. We will take a theoretical approach once a beginner can play songs. Chords and fret board positions hold precedence first. There will be tablature, printable chords. For beginning students who are completely new to the world of music, I typically start them with exercises and theory found in Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. This introduces them to the foundations of the guitar, such as basic chords, chord progressions, and the musical alphabet. Once they have the necessary understanding of the fundamentals, I then like to find out what music the student is interested in learning and apply these foundations in musical pieces they are familiar with.
