I started teaching when I was in high school, I began by teaching young students ranging from 5 years old to teenagers. As I started attending college, my students' age spectrum expanded into adults and even seniors. Through these experiences, I have learned to mold my teaching skills according to the students' needs and cater an enjoyable, and yet, challenging lesson. Mostly focusing on what the student enjoys, I systematically add musical concepts and ideas that can bring the student's playing to the next level. Read More

A typical drum lesson for beginners, child or adult, will always start with an interest inventory. I would like to gauge the students' musical interests to shape the long term lesson plan. I like to find some of the student's favorite bands/songs to draw examples and teach from. Snare fundamentals such as paradiddles, flams, rolls, etc. will be taught as well as short and easy drum kit beats. Students will be introduced to drum kit sheet music to help visualize, but the focus of drum kit lessons would be on developing the ear to be able to pick up music quickly. Read More

With trained ABA, we can achieve the ever-sought status of “cool”. It is a process of reciprocal musical involvement. I learn from the student, the student then teaches me. Each student is attended to equally with a specific lesson plan (materials provided by teacher). Inspiration and fun is crucial and without it would be a wasted lesson. I’m a nice person with empathy and a determination to keep the student focused and engaged with purpose. Read More
