Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

This is why I try to not ignore the deeper, more holistic aspects of the art, which is why I emphasize composition in my lessons. I will compose for my students pieces that highlight something they are working on, but I will also assign compositions for my students because kids love it and creativity yields a deeper connection to any given subject than, say, rote memorization. I love kids and do not stifle their creativity, without steering too far away from the task at hand, I like to listen to what they have to say because you never know what valuable information you may learn about their present perspective. Stephen is a graduate of Columbia University. A composer of more than fifty pieces, his music has been performed by both chamber groups and orchestras in the US and abroad. The most notable performers of his compositions include the Gregg Smith Singers, Stitching Combinatie van Utrechtse Muziekbelangen, New Calliope Singers, Group for Contemporary Music, and the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble. Stephen continues to work as a freelance guitarist and conductor, performing in various national venues with the Gregg Smith Singers, the Group for Contemporary Music, the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble, and the Composers Ensemble. Repertoire includes any songs or pieces that students are interested in learning and will be arranged to scaffold their current skill level. My teaching also places a special emphasis in improvisation - since much of modern guitar music is written from a place of improvisation and involves improvising, I believe it is a vital skill for students to have. Even a beginning understanding of improvising will give students a fresh new perspective on the music they enjoy and will give them the skills to play with any musician they may meet. Read More

At the age of 9, I met my first guitar teacher who taught me the importance of training your ears and how to perform the songs I learned live on stage. Later in my teens, my second guitar teacher taught me how to read music, play with a metronome and prepared me for my college audition on guitar. I attended University of Massachusetts - Lowell and throughout college I played in jazz ensembles, learned to sight read and improvise solos. Read More

I'm an experienced guitarist and bassist hoping to share my love for these instruments. In May 2023, I graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. During my time at Northeastern, I played guitar in a band called DeckParty with two friends from high school and collaborated with a variety of different artists, playing guitar on over 30 songs that have been released on Spotify.
