Robert  is an Army veteran who spent over 24 years as an Army musician.  He represented the Army as a guitarist, vocalist, percussionist,  and bassists in the US, Europe, and Korea.  In addition he has taught  and performed privately outside of his duties as an Army musician.  After he retired from the Army  in 2011 he joined the Musika team as a guitar and piano instructor and has very much enjoyed teaching his Musika students. I attained my M. Ed. in leadership and supervision at Antioch University. There I learned how better apply my teaching methods for more beneficial outcomes.  My most recent employment, with Nashville Public Schools (Music City!!!), afforded me the opportunity to teach modern band. Modern band philosophy combines instruments from various ensembles and allows the students the opportunity to explore and integrate the instrument of their interest into that band.  Modern Band is basically a rock band that is opened to other instruments and ideas that are most times contradictory to a typical rock band. As a teacher, I always want to accomodate to the student's vision of what he or she would like to achieve through learning music. Personalizing lesson plans and objectives in this way is extremely empowering to the student and promotes more devotion of time to learning outside of the lessons. I strongly believe the most important way to measure a student's progress is by setting short-term and long-term goals.
