My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I taught general music, choir, piano, and band in the public schools. I also worked in an after school youth orchestra, teaching woodwinds. Before that, I taught guitar to friends and some beginning students. I also helped my classmates who were learning guitar. I have mostly worked with beginners, and some more intermediate students. I use the Suzuki method which is an ear training method that trains the students to play familiar songs without having to read music. I teach them to read music afterwords. Much of my teaching method revolves around improvisation and experimentation.
