I teach the student to maintain an open mind of a beginner, even if they are advanced students. I create personal programs for each different student based on their temperament, their interests, and the reasons they want to play guitar. For materials, I always begin with positioning and releaseing tension with simple exercises that resonate with the student's interests. I'm a driven music teacher with an unending curiousity and love of the musical mind. I graduated Ithaca College with a B.A. in music performance specializing in classical guitar. Originally from Boston, I moved to NYC in the summer of 2011 to pursue teaching and playing music professionally. What Books and Methods I use depend on whether the student has a particular style in mind from the beginning of their studies. I will often use the Frederick Noad series of Books with students who know they want to study Classical Guitar and then progress to repertoire when the time seems right. If they aren't sure of what direction they want to go in I will use the Hal Leonard or Mel Bay Books to get them started, and when I start to see what direction they want to go in I will begin introducing different songs and repertoire to see what direction they seem to be headed towards.
