Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Especially on piano and keyboards, I have found that combining classical music and learning from books with learning music that students enjoy listening to on their own can revolutionize how students learn and enjoy their instrument. I also work with my students to learn their instrument and the necessary music theory concepts by writing their own melodies and small songs, so that students can feel creative while learning another method of processing the world around them. I want to give my student the experience of success from the start. With an appropriate printed resource, and audio recordings to listen to, they are equipped with the materials for self-study from the start. During the lesson itself, the student would be singing or playing at least half of the time. During this current stay-at-home lifestyle, I propose having lessons over Zoom. For beginners, I like to start with the basic fundamentals of the instrument. Brass instruments are notoriously demanding, so making sure we have a solid grasp on the fundamentals is paramount. I like to start with the Essential Elements for Band and the Elementary Method for Cornet and Trumpet books. Once we have the fundamentals, I like to start introducing some solo pieces, jazz, and pop tunes that will allow the student to get a feel for all the music they can play on this instrument!
