I have taught private voice/piano lessons for the 5 years. I have experience teaching students from ages 10-65. When teaching any student at any level, I begin with fundamentals in order to better assess their skill level. As other techniques are introduced, I continue to reinforce the fundamentals. I encourage my students to practice every day and help them to set goals for their practice sessions throughout the week. I have been teaching since I was in high school, and have enjoyed each lesson. I emphasize a strong fundamental base and building upon each students individual interests to help them develop their musical curiosity. I like to model lessons after an ideal practice session, starting with a fundamental warmup and development, moving into scale work, and then addressing the repertoire being studied. I always take my students' interest in mind when selecting repertoire and make sure they are staying engaged through the lessons as well as wanting to practice outside the lessons. Read More

  I have been teaching and mentoring students for 7 years.  I hold a B.A. from Hampton University, a M.M. from Central Michigan University, and a North Carolina teaching license in instrumental music education.  I am currently a band director in Leland North Carolina. I teach brass, woodwind and percussion methods. I enjoy working with students and performing great music.  My teaching career began in college. For each student, I focus on developing healthy practice habits (physically mentally) that allow them to be efficient and rewarded by their time spent with the instrument.
