I think relationships is what drives everything. If you don't build a trustworthy relationship with your student and learn about who they are and what they like then, you will not have a successful turn out. I am an avid listener as well as player. I perform as a solo guitarist specializing in Celtic and American acoustic music. I also work as an accompanist on a variety of instrument (mandolin, dulcimer, banjo, guitar) for singer-songwriters. You can catch my band Harper Valley Hypocrites performing locally. Our material cover Dylan to Zevon as well as some great original tunes. I continue to write and arrange pieces for fretted instruments and find great joy in adapting pop and rock classics to instruments that are not normally used for such tunes. Read More

My teaching styles are very relaxed, I try to use my gifts to guide the students but ultimately allow them to drive the courses. This introduces them to new interests and this allows an exchange of ideas. Read More

I began officially teaching music in 2015 with the Salvation Army here in Memphis, Tennessee. I've taught beginner violin and piano lessons with the Salvation Army, and I have a few private violin students of my own currently. As much as I love music, I love explaining concepts and giving my students confidence in their field of music, whether that is in voice, instrument, or writing. It is very important to be well equipped, but also confident in one's abilities and skills. Read More
