It is my experience that a student's approach to their instrument varies with their age. The more time one spends with an instrument, the more one expects to have a certain sound. I have been playing Flute for almost 40 years, Bassoon and Saxophone for 35.  I have at one time or another played with some of the world's best ensembles (i.e. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra) and in some of the very best venues in with world (i.e. Royal Albert Hall in London).  My training was entirely in classical music, in the last 7 or 8 years, I have branched out into Rock and Roll, Blues and Latin Jazz. My main goal is to create a vocal balance in the voice. Having a vocal balance is based on a singer's ability to sing with a resting larynx, proper vocal fold adduction and ability to navigate through the bridges evenly, without breaks, or strain. Once the balance has been found, we can then apply these skills to any style of music.
