All voice students will gain a working knowledge of English, Italian, French, and German basic translations, pronunciation, and performance styles; along with IPA phonetics. Theory and Composition students will work from Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory and William Russo's Composing Music as well as supplemental activities. Anda Szilagyi is a singer and multi instrumentalist composer who hails from Harlem, NYC. Born to 2 classical concert pianists, she began playing piano from a very young age, followed by classical guitar. In high school she took up jazz trumpet, which she continued to study at the New School, earning her degree in Jazz Performance and Composition. During college she began touring regularly and became a founding member of what would later become the Dap Kings, touring with Sharon Jones and Lee Fields. Read More

I always find ways to motivate my students to practice on their own. I do this by trying to find music that fits their interests, helping them set long-term and short-term goals, and giving students etudes, repertoire, and practice techniques that are challenging, yet not overwhelming.
