My method is based on each student's age, skill level, enthusiasm/interest level, and their wants/needs. For beginner students, it is important to start with the basic fundamentals and techniques, but once those are mastered, there is more freedom to explore. For intermediate students, we work on filling in gaps they may have in their current understanding of music/guitar, and anything else they want to work toward. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the lesson books you or I provide, preferably Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
