Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I began teaching privately after graduating from college over forty years ago. My first experiences were teaching guitar and voice in a local music store and I have taught in many other places including student's homes and my own studio. I taught private lessons in voice, piano, bass and guitar and I have worked with all age levels of students from elementary to adults. I picked up teaching during my second year of college with some help from my mother- a long-time piano teacher. During that time I taught several different students ranging from age 6 to adult on various instruments including piano, guitar, and drums. I've experienced the different learning styles and barriers that come with teaching kids, teens, and adults. Additionally, I have experience teaching outside of the music realm having worked as an outdoor educator, camp counselor, and substitute teacher as well as various tutoring sessions throughout my school career. I try to concentrate on the learning progress and enthusiasm of the student. I want to know what motivates them and the parents and help them focus on that. I also encourage performance opportunities and recitals to give them goals to work towards. I go at the students pace while challenging them to the next learning objective.
