If the student does not enjoy the lesson then they will not enjoy playing the instrument! With this in mind, I make sure to enforce the joy of music and focus on the fun side of playing. I recommend students learning at their own pace. This is done by setting appropriate goals and focusing on what each student needs to reach those goals. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with breathing and vocal exercise. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals and are introduced to the Belcanto technique, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate, for their first recital performance or audition. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guild my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging, fun, productive and fruitful, no matter their ability level.
