My earliest experience teaching was as a music counselor at a summer festival called French Woods. During my two summers working there, I taught students of all ages and skill levels on tenor and bass trombone, including private lessons. At French Woods I learned that I loved helping young musicians grow. After obtaining my Masters Degree in 2020 I focused on music education, and I have worked as a teacher for more than two years. I'm a passionate and curious musician. I'm self-taught in the styles of classical and jazz from when I picked up the clarinet I found at a Salvation Army at the age of 10. I taught myself until I started college and studied with Kelly Lake, Stephanie Gardner and currently with Jeff Quamo. While working toward receiving my Masters in Clarinet performance at NAU, I taught music theory and aural perception at the undergraduate level. In addition to teaching I've had two pieces written and recorded for me along with a couple tracks on a comedian's recent albums. I grew up playing music and participating in school bands and orchestras, but spent the first half of my adulthood in careers unrelated to music.
