For all of my students regardless of age I like to teach music aurally. We will first listen to what we are trying to learn then attempt to either sing or speak the phrases of the composition. My background in music began when I became fond of musicals at an early age. From these humble beginnings singing show tunes around the house to my completion of a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Mount Union, I gathered strong skill sets in voice, piano, and theory. I plan every lesson differently based on the student. I first like to see what the students interests are as well as what goals they have in mind that they would like to achieve. For drummers and percussionists, I like to work out of the books, Stick Control and the Alfred method books because I believe that they develop the best technique. For mallet players, I like to work out of the Charlie Parker Omnibook as well as Bach's Partitas and Sonatas book. Read More

It is very. important in lessons to acknowledge the student's accomplishments so that they are aware of where they are growing. Read More
