I am a passionate and motivated teaching artist who enjoys working with children and adults. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Music at Loyola University New Orleans in the fall of 2017. Performing chamber music, playing in Orchestra, and special events for weddings and corporate events have been an exciting part of my life as a musician. I've had the opportunity to perform for the Emmerson string Quartet, Degas String Quartet, and have been a part of many premieres such as an Opera Premiere entitled " The lions of reconstruction", and welcomed and played for the first lady of Haiti! I first began teaching at the age of sixteen. I was hired to work at Berkshire Summer Music, a music camp for talented young children. I worked as a violin and viola instructor, teaching children of all ages, assisting with their technique and helped develop good practicing habits. I've seen the face of an 80 year old grasping the ukulele and finally getting to hear himself playing his own songs, and seeing the glow in his eyes like a child. When you set realistic goals and set what steps are going to get you there, all the while celebrating each little victory, every lesson depends on the needs of my student. I am currently teaching solely for the fun of it and the challenge in it, as it is not my main career or main project, but it is something I get a lot from, and I have found over the years, has helped a ton of people get back into picking up their instrument, and cutting out the world for a bit. I am not strict in one specific style. I try to be malleable in my approach as I get to know the habits and abilities of each individual. I've had students for whom I thought it best to be more rigid and repetitive drill based, while others seem to benefit from a more passive guru. It's a spectrum. Always, though, I try to control the pace of the session, to speak thoughtfully, honestly, and constructively whilst always maintaining the utmost respect for the struggles that a student is facing.
