My methods depend on and are catered to the skill level and age of the student. Overall, I focus on methodologies that combine technique building, musicality, and ear training. For novice students, I utilize Suzuki methodology as well as Essential Elements for very young students. I strive to incorporate student preferred music into lessons, as I believe that this encourages a love for the instrument, as well as learning music as a whole. Read More

My teaching experience started with Olivet Boys and Girls club in college. There, I started teaching a choral group, glee club, private piano lessons, and group piano lessons. I did this for roughly ~5 years. I also taught lessons prior to this to beginner students throughout high school. I took private lessons from the age of 7 years old for about 13 years, and continue to practice and play daily (it's important to keep challenging yourself). Read More

I am also an accomplished "fiddle" player. Read More

For beginning woodwind students, I start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or whatever the student's school band book is. Once the student knows how to read music and can play enough notes, I like to introduce scales. This provides a good foundation for moving on to duets and solo pieces, which are more enjoyable to play. Once the student has finished the first Essential Elements book, I like to move on to the Rubank books. Read More

I have been passionate about music since my early years. In 4th grade I picked up the Cello and then in 5th grade we were allowed to try band instruments and I never looked back. I chose the Baritone Horn and played all through elementary, junior and high school as well as it was my major instrument in college. As a junior in high school I taught myself to play both the trombone and guitar. Read More
