My lessons are very structured and fun. I incorporate games, visual aids, physical application, and live demonstrations to help appeal to the different styles. I do expect a high level of commitment from students while still being understanding that life doesnt always allow us to practice hours and hours a day. Since I do provide a lot of information within each lesson, I add a 5 minute break (if needed) to help clear the mind or just rest the eyes/arms since staring at music for a long period of time or holding up an instrument for a long period of time can be quite taxing. Both students I've taught have had entirely different goals, one just trying to learn drumset and the other wanting to learn a song for his talent show. For beginning students that are children Inuse FJH Everybody's method book for guitar. For piano, I use My Piano Adventures series. For drums, I personally write the curriculum. All of my students also learn music theory to better them as a musician. I understand students have different learning techniques. I tend to keep the learning environment focused and relaxed simultaneously. We have our goal for the lesson set, we work towards that goal, we evaluate, and then we go over what the student needs to work on for next week while I make suggestions on how to do that.
