Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I have been in the marching band in high school for the last 5 years (8th grade - 12th grade) and was in the Ohio Chirstian University choir where we traveled to sing for different churches for 4 years. Music has always been in my blood and love to teach those who love music as well. It is my goal to teach my students the basics of music to encourage and grow their love of music; from picking up their first instrument to singing their first note, my goal is to teach them music while playing and having fun by using the Kodály method. My experience consists of playing clarinet primarily at the University of North Carolina Pembroke. One of the major performances I did was in wind ensemble with the Army Band. Additionally I participated in various travel performances with the "Spirit of the Carolinas" marching band. I also performed a junior and senior recital while in college and I tutored music theory. Furthermore, I have played in various ensembles over the last ten years including, wind ensemble, concert band, clarinet ensemble, marching band, community orchestra, and I have also played and sang for various churches. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with breathing and vocal exercise. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals and are introduced to the Belcanto technique, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate, for their first recital performance or audition. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guild my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging, fun, productive and fruitful, no matter their ability level.
