When students have mastered the fundamentals of their specific lessons I work with them on songs of their choosing and we put those fundamentals into practice. I typically focus on fundamentals of musicianship -scales, chords, etc.- as a main focus. as for repertoire, I tend to gravitate to the great American song book/ other Jazz Standards.
