For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Guitar Method One. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, including being able to read both staff and tab and have some basic playing technique , I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adult students, I like to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My primary instrument is violin/viola under the training of Dr. Isidor Saslav, but spend my weekends on bass for community events and local performances. Read More

For beginning students, I always start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I've found this book to be the best at introducing the instrument and reading the music. I may or may not continue teaching out of the books (there's 3), but that depends on the student. By book 2 or 3 I usually begin introducing Suzuki, as there are many solo pieces for them. Suzuki is also great for teaching technique, which is essential to their skill-set. Read More

Focus on proper technique for all students, regardless of his/her playing ability. Once proper technique is established, I utilize the Berklee Series as a basis for instruction. These volumes are supplemented by exercises, which I write specifically for the particular student’s needs. As the student progresses, I incorporate tunes that the student wishes to learn into the lesson plan.My guitar lessons take place in: Either locationGuitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerpicking, Slide Guitar, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection Read More

I love seeing my students thrive in their music studies! It is such a rewarding moment when a student realizes that they have the capability to create beautiful art. It is very important to me that students develop skills through their music studies that also assist them in their daily lives, like - perseverance, consistency, creativity, and persistence. Acknowledging students successes can help give the student a desire to continue and progress in their studies. Read More
