I began teaching professionally in the Bay Area about 30 years ago. I have taught in a variety of settings includings classes, group lessons, in music stores, for school districts, at students' homes and in my own private studio. Every person learns differently and I am highly skilled at detecting this and using it to my students' advantage. For students between the ages of 3 and 7, I typically use either the Little Mozarts method or the Birds and Dogs method. For students who are older, I use a combination of methods, including Alfred's, Bastien and Faber. I have also designed and used my own curriculum for students with special needs, including students who have autism, cerebral palsy, nerve damage, ADHD and for gifted students. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I have received two Fellowships in Composition from Nevada Arts Council, as well as numerous ASCAPlus Jazz and Pop Awards, and an honorable mention in the Billboard Songwriting Contest.
