With children, I usually recommend easy to sing along songs that they have heard growing up like "Silent Night" etc, and I usually pick their songs unless they like songs that are in their vocal range and not difficult on the voice. I want them to enjoy singing and stick with it, instead of getting frustrated and not liking the music. My teaching experience dates back to 2013, where I first began tutoring local junior high students for the summer band program. Depending on the style, genre that the student wants to learn, I make sure they have enough resources to practice themselves in their own home. For children, I try to keep it as light and fun so they won't burnout over the long journey of learning music.
