In college I began teaching drumlines over the summer for various high school programs. During that time is when I really began to fall in love with the teaching process and watching my students improve and grow as musicians. For beginning students with instruments, I like to use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and piano, I like to use Alfred's Basic Piano Course Lesson Book and for voice I use FULL VOICE Workbook. I know each student is different and prepared to adjust in any way to meet the student's need. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Burnam's A Dozeon A Day and Faber's Piano Adventures. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For students who take ABRSM exam, I will not only focus on playing of three repertoire, but also the skills of sight-playing and ear-training.
