Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Another method that I use in my lessons is deep listening. This includes finding many different ways to produce a variety of colors. I like to think that pianists’ fingers are “paint brushes” and there are million “painting techniques” that could be applied to paint sounds in different colors. I sometimes tell my students to try to visualize the shape and the color of the phrases or the sounds. I ask them to imagine the sound and hear it with the inner ears before they touch the piano, and then compare the sound they had in mind with the sound they produced with the piano. Read More

For all of my beginning students I use the Suzuki method. I am a very fast paced teacher, and I hold all of my students to high standards. As my students get into more advanced music, I select solo literature that best fits their musical abilities. For my vocal students I select music that is appropriate for them from the very beginning. For my male vocal students, I coach them through the voice change, which is a rewarding experience for me. I have been teaching professionally since graduating from Capital University in 2009, and have had the pleasure of teaching individuals of all ages and interests. I've developed a lesson plan centered around building a complete musician, not just a guitarist. Integral to that plan is the development of reading, writing, and improvisational skills. I do not have a specific teaching style. Being a teacher is a learning experience for the teacher just as much as it is for the student. Every student learns a different way and can require a unique way of teaching. No one student will get the same teaching method.
