My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I was also foreign faculty at the College of the Bahamas in Nassau, New Providence, where I taught concert band, flute, clarinet, guitar, Music History, vocal techinques and World Music. I studied piano with renowned jazz pianist, Ray Santisi, at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and with international performer and accompanist, Phillip Moll. I've been teaching music for more than 12 years now. I can honestly say that I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge of music. Not everyone can say that they truly enjoy their job so I feel blessed. I have taught hundreds of students ranging from ages 4 to 80! I have taught individuals, groups or online lessons. My teaching style is very laidback yet focused. I'm still a student myself so I know that my students might not have time to practice every day, but at the same time, you've got to practice consistently to see results. I focus on trying to get those consistent results while still making sure my students have fun in the process. One of the most rewarding things about music is finally learning a song you've been trying to learn for a while or realizing how far you've come, and I know I can help my students reach that fulfilling point. I have a variety of methods that I use to teach students.  I have used many Hal Leonard's band and guitar books, I use a wide variety of materials so that the students can achieve their goals. There is always new material coming out and I will also write my own technical exercises if the student needs them.
