Depending on the level of the student, there are three structures of lessons I provide. The course for beginners includes introduction to sound, keyboard of piano, touch, playing from the scores, synchronization of hands. It is taught with easy classic exercises and well-known pieces like Scarlatti sonatas,Czerni etudes and Bach's two/three voice inventions. During intermediate level course the main focus is on pedals, basic dynamics of performance, two-three voice patterns and phrasing, Finally, the last but not least, the course for advanced students includes introduction to the form of classical sonatas of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, virtuoso etudes of Chopin, Liszt, more complex articulation and more complex romantic pieces like Hungarian Rhapsodies,Ballads and Scherzi. I am a strong believer in listening before you play. When it comes to younger students this can be challenging, yet also rewarding. Younger students require a lot of demonstration as far as how to hold and position your fingers. It is a lot of muscle memory, and most new students need proper technique to get them to enjoy their instrument. I find this takes patients. For more advanced students I would get into music theory, improvising/experimentation, ear training, and composition. Read More

I would say my second best quality as a teacher is being able to teach the theory behind the musical they are learning. I mainly teach voice, guitar, and piano, but through those styles, I also teach jazz guitar, vocal improvisation, classical and jazz theory, ear training, vocal technique, and composition and arranging. I want to be able to cover as many areas of music that a student is interested in. Read More

As a horn player, I have a lot of orchestra experience. I joined the China Youth Symphony Orchestra as a freshman in September 2010, which allowed me to improve my professional skills and my ability to work as part of a team. Read More

For beginning musicians and children, I find it is best to start with the fundamentals: an introduction to music vocabulary. introducing major scales, common time signatures, and basic rhythms. from there, we'll move on to reading sheet music and performing simple rhythms, melodies, and phrases. One of my go-to resources for this is the standard of excellence book 1. For adults or experienced musicians, we'll take a different approach. we'll start by diving into some of their own favorite tunes. Read More
