My musical background began when at 7 yrs. old I was playing the piano with my mothers instruction. I became a self taught student in brass and piano and later was accepted as a Music major to West Chester University. During HS I became known as a trumpet soloist in Regional and State Bands and in the Salvation Army brass program a cornet soloist. Later on I started my education in education and started learning about what actually prevent a person from being able to learn. For piano, I typically use the entire Schaum series. I feel that it is the best, most affordable, systematic option out there. After that, I typically use the Thompson method or any selected material by the student that is appropriate to their level. Also in order to make the lessons more engaging and fun for the student, I allow some time for music making where the student gets a chance to play any notes with my accompaniment in the background. For beginning students who are children, I start with the book "Learn to play piano" for piano students and for guitar "Learn to play guitar." It is a basic book with specific essential elements for reading and understanding music. As the student progresses I use to introduce songs for their repertoire applying what they leaned in the book. I hold two degrees in music from Montclair State College, a BA and an MA in music. My primary instrument was piano and my secondary was violin. I studied piano with Murray Present, pupil of Josef and Rosinna Lhevinne at Julliard, working with him for both degrees and thereafter.
