I use the method created by Adolf Herseth (Principle trumpeter in the Chicago Symphony for 50 years). I learned this method from William Fielder at Rutgers. This concept is based on using air as the primary energy source for producing sound. We will work on strengthening the breathing apparatus to be able to produce a pure clear tone that is without distortion. In 2014 I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance. At Baylor I had the opportunity to study all areas of orchestral, solo, and contemporary percussion with world renowned percussionist and teacher Dr. Todd Meehan. Most important to my teaching is that each student to listens to a lot of music, and learns to play the music that they love as soon as possible. I work with a variety of method books/videos depending on skill level and stylistic interest, and teach time-tested regimens for building raw ability on the instrument.
