For beginners who are children, I will most likely start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. From there, I will try to select level-appropriate pieces based off my student's interests, in addition to continuing the Hal Leonard's materials until students progress to a more intermediate level. For adults, I will begin instruction with a chord focus, which allows for a wide range of tranferability within many genres of music.
