Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For piano students, I like to use the Alfred courses. This method is great because they have courses of study for all ages and levels, and students can progress through several courses throughout their study. For flute/clarinet students, I like to start with either Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or the Rubank methods books. For beginning piano students, I tend to use the Alfred method books 1-3, then graduate to Hanon "the virtuoso pianist" I stress the "fundamentals" while adding solo repertory for enjoyment and solo playing. Simple piano pieces keep the lessons fun for beginners, while classical works are encouraged for intermediate and advanced students. For violin and viola, one of my choices is "All for Strings". I do add Mueller-Rusch books after the first year, and some solo pieces from the Suzuki methods. Read More
