I encourage students a lot and make the lessons fun for them, for younger students, they play nursery rhymes that they know how to sing, so it keeps them motivated, for teenagers, they are more interested in pop music, so we sometimes work on the pop songs they want to play. For beginning students who are children from age 5 to 8, I include games to help them learn to play.
