For beginning voice students (-12) I teach out of a folk songs book, and if they choose, challenging disney repertoire which adds an element of fun, but also is educational. for Intermediate students (12-15) I use the same folk songs book but apply more advanced techniques on proper singing technique, then depending on their level, I might do more advanced repertoire which fits them. My favorite part about teaching is watching my students progress. Nothing is better than seeing the progress one makes after a given time. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at their own pace. Setting goals for themselves can work well but there is no need to rush anything. Learning takes time and especially learning an instrument. For percussionists and drummers starting out, they'll start with just a practice pad and a pair of sticks, and the first "Alfred's Drum Method" book. From there, after a bit of progression, I'll add material based on the student's interests. For starting pianists, I work with pianists through the Faber series.
