Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.
lessons are available in the following areas:

I believe the foundation of progress is consistency, so I try to establish routines with my students, spending part of each lesson on technical exercises, theory/aural skills training, and repertoire. I also set performance goals for students by organizing recitals *this has been more tricky during Covid, but I think it is important nonetheless to get students to perform from memory at least twice a year (once at the end of fall and spring terms). Instruments: Piano, Synthesizer, Mallet Percussion, Keyboard
I prefer to use the first few lessons to get a grasp of what the student knows and what theyre looking to learn. Hal Leonard has a great starter program that is good for most students to begin with. Once some of the basics become established we will start learning scales and arpeggios. These help with finger dexterity and are also very important for all styles of music. For older students I like to know what type of music specifically they are looking to play and for what reasons theyre looking to play. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Saxophone, Drums, Organ, Synthesizer, Music, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar
Every student learns differently, so by finding out what inspires my student, I am able to create individiualized lesson plans that cater to my student's needs without losing focus on the fundamentals of music. Music is such a blessing and should be fun! Ample time is given to students to discover their own music and inherent rhythms while studying the vast pedigree of music that has come before us. My lesson plans incorporate everything from reading writing music, jam sessions (often times with me!), and recording time. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Violin, Viola, Electric Violin, Fiddle
I like to use several methods in my lessons. I use a lesson book, Essential Elements for Strings for violin and viola students and Alfred books for piano students. In addition to these, I supplement with song books, concertos, etudes, scales, and songs the students want to learn to play. I also teach ear training where I'll play something and then have the students play it back to me. I think it's essential to not only learn to read music, but to play by ear, AND improvise! Read More
Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Synthesizer, Lap Steel Guitar
For beginner students who are children I typically just want them to get comfortable with the piano keys and then find simple songs with simple patterns to get a grasp of hand placement, timing, and the joy of playing. For adults, I try to find out what they are interested in, e.g. (song structure, chord intervals, scales, hand technique) and adjust my lessons accordingly to help them meet their goals. Read More
