My music is an explorative collage of rhythm and harmony that incites emotion, creating a wild and memorable experience for listeners. I source inspiration from an array of influences, ranging from Miles Davis, to The Beatles. I ask that students come with an open mind and be prepared to make mistakes because no piece is perfect and neither are lessons. Lessons give you the opportunity to make mistakes without judgement. Now that I am retired from the public schools and soon from the opera orchestra I have more time to teach privately and am looking forward to using my expertise and a performer and teacher to take students to any level they would like to go. Depending on the level the student is at I will work with them where they are at and what is needed. If a beginning student I will usually start off with working on scales and use visual tools such as books to help aid the process. I began teaching private lessons about four years ago. Originally I used it as a means to practice teaching but I fell in love with the process and have continued ever since. I have taught at various music studios as an in-studio instructor and also as an in-home instructor. It is my goal to make each lesson enjoyable for the students. I like to keep a balance between classical repertoire and technique while allowing the student to branch out into the realm of popular music if they choose. Read More
