Instruments: Saxophone, Flute

I began teaching during my sophomore year of college. I have had the opportunity to instruct all ranges of age groups as well as different sizes of ensembles. I emphasize the importance of regular practice routines with my students, as it leads them to better understand what they need to improve upon as well as helps me to help them achieve the goals they are wishing to reach in their playing. Instruments: Piano, Voice, Violin, Cello, Viola, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Drums, Synthesizer, Recorder, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba, Piccolo, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Oboe, Bassoon, Keyboard, Djembe

For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire. Particularly for college-bound musicians who wish to major in music, the majority of their lessons will be based on preparing solo literature for All District or college auditions. Read More

Instruments: Guitar, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Bass Guitar, Accordion, Lap Steel Guitar, Banjo, Ukulele, Mandolin, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 40 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 20 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy their instrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
