I do not put deadlines or timelines on any student's progress, and I also realize that each student's needs are unique to each and every person. After growing up in Seattle participating in many state and national musical events, I moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance. I first began teaching upon the completion of my undergraduate studies in 2004. At that time the majority of my students were beginners in their first or second year of playing. By 2008 I had completed the first of my two graduate degrees in music. With this accomplishment the students seeking lessons with me generally became older, typically in the junior high and high school ages. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. To allow that to develop, I set realistic goals for my students so they can get feelings of accomplishment which will inspire them to learn more. Every student progresses at their own pace, so setting realistic goals is necessary so the student doesn't feel stuck or overwhelmed.
