It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps. I usually balances the time by working first on fundamental/technical aspects of the instrument: intonation, articulation, rhythm, and tone; followed by study of the particular student's chosen repertoire, whether it be jazz standards, rock/pop/blues tunes, classical literature or etudes. Ever since I entered the world of music during my middle school days, I have been helping other musicians grow in skill and enjoyed helping others understand music theory. As first chair oboe player, I was required to make sure that the rest of the woodwind players knew their music, and made arrangements to coach individual students that were lagging behind. I had the chance to learn how to play Clarinet, Oboe, and Alto and Bari Sax in high school. Read More
