I have a lifelong commitment to teaching music and teaching the complete individual. In 1994 I graduated with my Bachelors in Music Education from Syracuse University, and continued my studies with a Masters of Science in Music Education and Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation. Through my career, i've taught music at all levels, from elementary music classes to middle and high school band, and even orchestra. I began teaching in 2000, and since then have taught saxophones, flute, clarinet, improvisation, chord theory, piano / keyboard, basic music understanding to young children in a classroom setting, and coached worship teams and group seminars to all ages. It is a great joy to see students excel and expand as they take what they have learned into their own lives! I have found that most students in my original area who learned saxophone were taught in various ways that brought up issues later on in their musical career. I focus on fingering exercises and scales for beginners to ease the hardships brought up later and introduce options. Then, we begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their level.
