The best thing I can do as a teacher is help you realize the path of least resistance for achieving your goals. So, I have developed a style called the Dotted Line Approach. On the first day of lessons, we will discuss both short term and long term goals. Following this, we will develop a roadmap with smaller goals for each week, month, 3 months, and year. Each month, we will revisit your goals, discuss what is and what isn't working, and make plans to stay on track towards meeting your goals. Read More

My technique for teaching students vary depending on the student and their competency. If the student is a beginner I like to start them with the basics of theory and rhythm by explaining the circle of 5ths, major scales, minor scales, augmented, and diminished scales. Then once the student grasps the very basic concepts of music theory I then either have them bring in a song the would like to play or I will give them variations of Ferling Etudes or Bach Etudes to establish a solid foundation in music theory. I strongly believe in the importance of communicating with both the students' parents and band director at school. Read More
