ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:
BME, Missouri State University, Instrumental Percussion
Awards:

2015- Selected and performed with the Michael Burritt ensemble during the 2015 Missouri Day of percussion

Overview:
In 2017, I graduated from Missouri State University with a BME (Bachelor of Music Education) with an emphasis in percussion. Throughout my time in my undergrad, I have been a part of renowned groups such as Dr. Belva Prather Wind Ensemble and Mr. Jerry Hoovers Pride Band organization. Other groups I have performed with include world famous Michael Burritt in his ensemble in 2015 Missouri Day of Percussion. I currently teach at Parkview high school in Springfield, MO and have spent three years with the group. This includes teaching private lessons in marching band and concert material. With accordion, I studied with Andrew Bishko for little over a year and began to study into different styles of music. I have a major respect for the cultural of the accordion and how it can be applied to countless types of music around the world. I currently study Balkan, Celtic, folk, klezmer and jazz gypsy.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience began my Junior year of college with Parkview high school percussion section for marching band. With writing music, teaching techniques and running rehearsals my experience with teaching a variety of students has made me have to adapt to a multitude of teaching styles. What I strive in my teaching for students is to find their motivational factor in why they are playing music in the first place. What is their purpose for learning an instrument? How can this apply them personally? What do THEY want to get out of this experience? It is understandable that some students want to play music for leisure while other students wish to pursue it as a career. I want these lessons to be a self-building experience for them as humans; the betterment of a person through music is the betterment of the person in general.
METHODS USED
With beginning students, the lessons will start with building fundamentals, strong practice habits, musicality and finding the meaning to why they are learning music. The goal behind my lessons is to form strong mature musicians that not only use their knowledge of music to better their playing, but to better themselves. Taking the discipline process of learning an instrument and applying it to school, work, relationships, etc. I want to work for the students as they work for me. Listening to what they want to accomplish and accommodate as much as I can to achieve any goal that wish to procure.
LESSON STYLE
Success is important for the student and I will I strive to make sure that is a reality for every students goal. It is important to realize that every student will be moving at their own pace and it is my job to either ease back or push the student to what I think will help that goal succeed. Acknowledging students success is a way of obtaining these goals and make the students eager to learn more. Unlocking the motivational factor with each individual students is the key to develop a successful musician and person.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
