I have been playing music all my life and am a Bass Player at heart. I have been teaching for 3 years and am skilled in teaching bass (all levels), guitar (beginner to intermediate), and ukulele (all levels). Although I did not attend music school, I have been playing bass for 12 years and have been professional for the past 9 years. I have gained my experience through experience and variety of acts with styles across the board. I am also trained in instructing students with learning disabilities and/or on the Spectrum.
I have toured the US, as well as Europe with different music acts in the realms of rock, rockabilly and blues. In teaching, I am comfortable with all ages, as I have taught students from 8 years old to 60 years old. I have experience teaching at School of Rock and privately/one-on-one. With my professional touring experience, I have the ability to give you new challenges and think about music differently. I am motivated to get my students to their next level, as I am always challenging and improving myself to attain my next level.
When I begin with a new student, I generally jam and analyze my student's abilities, skill level, techniques and interests/desires in music styles. When I have a good idea about my student's ability and skill level, we begin with focusing on what needs to be improved. For beginner children, I like to focus on the fundamentals and keep interest with keeping things creative, exciting and fun! For adults, I like to analyze my student's musical interests and try to associate lessons in that style of repertoire.
Music is one of the most important things in my life and am overjoyed when given the opportunity to teach and instill that into another student. I work with student's at their pace, with the thought in mind that my student is continuously practicing every week to improve and utilize past lessons. However, I do keep in mind a sense of reality with one's schedule, how busy they may be and the inability to sometimes make time to practice. I am understanding and open to working with students that may have less time in a day to practice, as I have been there before!
